Hello lovely little number readers! yes, I am back again. I have been studying a lot for my AP History mid-term exam(yes, I know seems smart right? not really, just requires more writing and analyzing.) The exam is tomorrow at lunch, I'm so very nervous!
Studying for exams requires a lot of focus and dedication(both of which I do not have, I get distracted very easily) Not only do we have to worry about maintaining a good grade in class by doing work we also have to do tests that see what we have learned through out the class program. Studying can be very hard to do especially when you leave it for last minute(not recommended!!!) Procrastination is the main cause of low marks(and of course not understanding what is going on, go see a teacher and get help.) When I study there are a few things I do. Want to get a little inside my study routine? no? Oh well I'll still tell you =D
-I get food and maybe a drink, something fast like crackers or toast(don't want to take time out of studying just to make food) and for a drink it's usually water(with ice and lemon wedge for me) or milk, quenches thirst longer than something like juice and pop.
-Set things out with priority; identify what it is you are stuck on or iffy and start looking at it first, and take notes!! physically writing things down does help a lot, there's a connection to your brain with it. Then try to explain some things to people, saying it out loud will also aid you in remembering(trust me in works)
-Once you are comfortable enough with the slightly unknown move on to what you do know just to get more comfortable with it. Read more up on it, see if there's additional information you never knew. Just like the slightly unknown repeat the facts in writing and vocal.
-Remember to take breaks though! If you study too much you wouldn't have accomplished much. All of the information you just hammered into your brain will disappear when the exam comes. This is because you worry too much and the information goes poof because you are thinking of all the negative.
-Play some instrumental music, like Bach and Beethoven and so on. The music helps you concentrate more, probably because there is no lyrics distracting you. I also listen to Ed Sheeran but that's because he's a ginger God :)
That's all I do, my breaks are probably 45 minutes then I get back to work, I think I study for 1-3 hours. But that again is just me, you can adjust the timing to your preferences as long as it gets done =P . Some fun facts I learned are; wearing a white lab coat to an exam will increase your result, probably because smart people wear the lab coats and it just tells your brain to do better. Also if you write down your worries right before an exam you'll do much better! I'm going to try the writing down my worries tomorrow, but not the lab coat. It would be interesting to go to school with a lab coat, but there are a lot snobs at my school and they won't acknowledge my creativity hahah!
Anyways, I must go now, time to study again wooooooo. blah. Anyways, good luck to all of you!
Tah tah for now xx
